Marina’s Many Colored Sound Garden—where new music begins.

I am a composer, director, pianist and theorist who seeks to channel multifaceted styles into my music.  Just as a garden has different sections, my compositions are a collection of distinct ideas and dialogues.  And in all gardens where flowers bloom close to each other, this sound garden has potential to create many striking hybrids with so much cross-pollination.  In this way, I seek to synthesize different styles in various combinations to create new universes of unique aesthetics.

My interests vary widely from 19th-century French and Italian opera to Messiaen’s electronic experimental works, to Stravinskyan modernism.  When I compose, I wish to harness all these dramatic narratives in a common direction: that all will reside harmoniously in this soundworld.
